How We Operate
With the
support of our comprehensive region-wide membership of
independent locally-based racial equality organisations and
working closely with the Equality and Human Rights
Commission, Rights and Equality West Midlands pursues its
constitutional aims of eliminating discrimination and
promoting human rights, equality of opportunity and good
relations between different groups.
It
coordinates its member organisations’ inputs into human
rights and race equality promotion, public policy
development, community regeneration and cohesion, legal
casework and public awareness-raising.
It
initiates an implements effective national, regional and
sub-regional strategy in complainant aid and anti-racial
harassment work, policy development, community development,
and public awareness raising.
It markets
and provides tailor-made race equality and equality
solutions for public authorities, private companies and
voluntary bodies seeking to realise race equality goals or
comply with their statutory obligations.
It assists
member organisations to build their capacity to provide high
quality racial and other equality services at local level.
It
specialises in consultancy, research and development, and
training in the management of diversity. Where possible
this is undertaken in partnership with locally-based racial
equality organisations.
Resources
to support these operations are obtained:

by seeking funding to
support the organisation and its general aims.

by
writing applications to funding bodies for funds to
support relevant projects and outcomes by REWM, or by
REWM in partnership with other race equality
organisations.

by
tendering for race equality and equalities projects in
the public, voluntary and private sector, and winning
contracts to deliver particular services.

marketing and selling race equality services.
