Research

We undertake social policy research and produce research reports (see our publications)

Research reports are available on local authority race equality schemes, local strategic partnerships, community cohesion, impact assessment, Local Area Agreements, racist incidents in schools, and youth projects designed to promote race equality.

We maintain close links for collaborative research purposes with the Centre for the Study of Ethnicity and Culture, the University of Birmingham, the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations, the University of Warwick, the School of Legal Studies, the University of Wolverhampton, and the Department for Peace and Reconciliation, Coventry University.

We have undertaken audits of the knowledge, skills, experience and training of racial equality organisations and their employees.

We regularly produce reports on the electoral activity of extreme right-wing racist political parties.

We provide critical reviews of publications impacting on race relations theory and practice.

The skills and experience of our staff and consultants make us leaders in applied race equality research, and evidence-based policy development.  We have a well-earned reputation for producing high quality research reports to schedule.

We have extensive experience in data analysis and needs assessment.

REWM specialises in research on:

  • theory and practice relating to community cohesion.
  • effectiveness of race equality interventions.
  • extremism in the local communities.
  • race, ethnicity and social regeneration.
  • relations with Muslim communities.
  • the needs of the mixed-race population

We are building stronger links with the West Midland Regional Observatory.
