We want
to develop a regional think-tank approach to encourage
sound informed and creative thinking on how best to
tackle discriminatory practices, community disadvantage,
and inter-ethnic conflict in the West Midlands.

Our
strategic planning skills and services are suitable for
and available to Advantage West Midlands, Government
Office for the West Midlands, and the West Midlands
Regional Assembly.

instrumental in the development of the Federation of
Racial Equality Councils and are leading on its
development as the national voice of the voluntary
sector equality movement.

We gave
evidence to the West Midlands Assembly regional review
of equality and diversity.

We
publish the Race Equality Digest and other research
reports aimed at developing equality strategy and the
relevance and quality of local equality work.

We have
produced a set of scenarios for the future of race
equality work to encourage race equality organisation
executive committees to discuss local strategy.

We
facilitate various conferences, positioning events, and
away days for racial equality councils and others, and
produce reports of their proceedings on a variety of
themes, such as the new workplace regulations on sexual
orientation and religion or belief, and how to defeat
race hatred.
-
Together with others, we provide equality and community
cohesion guidance on Local Area Agreements and Local
Strategic Partnerships.
-
REWM
uses its research skills to assess local needs in
respect of race equality, community cohesion and tension
monitoring.
