Midlands Regional Observatory
The West
Midlands Regional Observatory is responsible for helping the
region to develop better access to organised information. It
does this to improve the quality of strategy and
policy-making so that the region can better inform the
provision of services.
It is based
in central Birmingham at
Millennium Point. It continues to grow its capability
and extend its service provision, so that it is positioned
to meet all of the data and intelligence needs of its
partners.
Headed by
the Chief Executive Rosie Paskins, the Observatory team
covers three key areas.
Research
The
Research team delivers the
State of the Region report, monitors the progress that
strategies are making, and supports partners in meeting
their data and intelligence needs. This includes the
coordination of the evidence base to support the work of the
Regional Skills Partnership, a mix of employers, skills
providers and other public bodies who take the lead on the
regional skills agenda.
Regional
Data and Intelligence Network
The
Regional Data and Intelligence Network
(RDIN) team acts
as the main focal point for the Observatory’s communication
with the region. Through the RDIN, the Observatory is able
to ensure that it responds appropriately to the needs of the
region.
Web and
data
The Web and
Data team is responsible for delivery of data and
intelligence to the region, through the maintenance of this
website. The team ensures that the body of knowledge that is
available within the region is sought out and made available
to a wider audience.
